Employment References

To ensure each employment episode is ready for assessment, please provide an employment reference letter for each relevant employer. This must be on the company letterhead and be signed and dated by an authorised person from the company (digital signatures are preferred and must be provided with a digital verification certificate that authenticates the signer’s identity).

All references must contain the following specific information from the employer:

  1. Company Letterhead, Employer name, Address
  2. Company website URL address
  3. Your Full Name
  4. Date of letter
  5. Start and End dates of employment in DD/MM/YYYY format (If your position is current, the reference should show the start date, and for the end date, indicate 'CURRENT')
  6. Employment status (permanent full-time, part-time, contractor)
  7. Minimum number of hours worked per week
  8. Annual Salary before tax and any benefits (as per your company’s guidelines)
  9. Location of work – this will either be ‘Australia’ or ‘Outside Australia’ for each Position held.
  10. Position/Role Title e.g. ‘Software Engineer’, ‘Database Administrator’
  11. Bullet point duties performed – this must confirm the duties you carried out in the role.
  12. Contact details of the signatory (i.e. phone number and official work email address - no personal email addresses)

ACS acknowledges that every employer is different and may be bound by company reference letter layout templates. An example reference letter layout covering the numbers above is presented for your understanding.

If you cannot obtain an employment reference or are self-employed, you will need to submit a Statutory Declaration or Affidavit.

Documents in a language other than English will need to be translated.

PLEASE NOTE:

PLEASE DO NOT upload employment contracts, offer letters, appointment letters or position descriptions as they are not assessable and may delay processing of your application.
